The post offices never pay their cleaning help much at all. Thats why I don't mess with them. Its ok for someone just wanting to make some extra spending money, but thats about it. For what they pay, you can't really afford to pay someone to go in and do the work. And if you sign a contract and get super busy with good paying jobs you are just stuck with a break even job. Patti

Patti is absolutely right. When its a Gov Bid expect the Lowest Bids. We've been through that at our early stage. But when you are in the Data Base of a certain Fed or State. Information stays for 10 years and is passed along to other Agencies also. Our recent Call for an Emergency Floor Stripping and Waxing is at the Department of Energy in Baltimore County. A 7 Floor with an Area of more than 4000 sq ft per floor. So having a one in a Portfolio will give you Good Deeds in Return in the Long Run. Sometimes they just browse in their List of Qualified Service Providers or on the Internet. You Never Know.

this is for regular Janitorial cleaning on goverment contracts.
Goverment contracts can be good if done right, first of all there cheap scapes. you have to bid them low. this is how the goverment does it, they contact so many companies. they all go there and bid it, they all summit there bids and info. now they get all the bids, they take all the ones who are qualified, and trash the rest. then they take the rest and pull out the lowest price, and go with that. if your set up good with equipment and got a good team just for them, and have a little cah flow, they can be profitable. I call them hit and runs. if its just yourself and maybe one other, don't bother, it will slow your growing process.
if you can get a few of them, you have a team that go's to each one, say for instance a court house, and 2 libarys. they go there, in they go, clean it right up, and get right out and move right to the next one. you can not get too detail with them, you make the money on speed. if your a detailed person and like to spend time with an account. that is very good, but don't do it with goverment contracts, you will definitly lose money on them. and they still will sell you out for the next low bidder the following bid term. this is why goverment and state buildings always look like crap. they do pay there bills, and they'll never really stiff you. may be late, very late, but it always follows eventualy.

We presently have municipal and regional government contracts that are profitable albier a small profit margin .. Luckily, they have moved to direct deposit, 15th and 30th direct deposit to the account, very nice. However, have run away from provincial and fed contracts, 90 plus days and very tight. My two cents worth.
