I have a client that wants me to damp wipe their office blinds. The are vertical 6' long, 10' from the floor. There is a total of 5 sets with 12 individual blinds for a total of 60 units.
I'm guessing the best way to clean them it to take them all down, wipe them on a flat surface, then put them all back up. Does that sound good?
I'm already cleaning their walls and ceiling which is 12 high. I'll be using a rolling scaffold so I'll already be up that high. I'm thinking 1.5 hours to take them down, clean, then put them back up. Does that sound about right?

Stephan: You can take them down and wipe them but be careful of the clips, they break easily. You may want to consider getting a quote from an ultrasonic blind cleaner company. Does a much better job than wiping.

Well if it were me since they are vertical I think I would try putting cloth gloves on both hands (or socks) and wiping them with soapy water. Would want to be careful of drippings though. Bill's idea is better, but may be expensive Using gloves/socks can be time consuming also. Linda

I advised client about the ultrasonic blind cleaning option and told them it would be more expensive than if I cleaned them by hand (not sure if that is true but I've always heard this service is pricey). They said don't bother, just clean them by hand.
Salamander, I'm guessing it will take me 1.5 hours to take them off using scaffolding (I'm already using oit to clean the walls and ceiling for the client., wipe them all down with a cleaner, then put them all back up. I'm going to quote a price of $60.

Ughh office blinds! One of the banks i clean has 3 offices with white office blinds and they look like their growing fur. lol
I've used a swiffer duster, and microfiber clothes to get as much as i could get off. When i used a damp cloth it just smeared the dust and dirt and made them look worse. I'm afraid to take them down because their old and in bad shape.
These just need replaced.
Good luck cleaning the ones your talking about.

These blinds seem to be in good shape and not too dirty. At least they look that way!

Mine must be designer blinds. Hence the fur like substance growing on them. lol

I clean blinds like these every day, in a commercial bldg. The easiest way, i have found out through trial and error, for me, is to clean them with a good commercial degreaser. I leave them hanging up, spray a large rag directly with the degreaser and wipe both sides of the vertical blinds down simultaneously. I keep a bucket of clean water with me to rinse the rag out. Be careful not to touch them while they are wet, because you will leave marks on them and make them appear dirty. This is much easier and faster than taking them down and cleaning them. I have tried several ways and this was the easiest for me. Hope this helps!

Great idea......
You can use fiber clothes and make use of chemicals for removing strains of furniture and floor. Office cleaning companies have some professionals in the cleaning field and know the proper methods and tools used for cleaning purpose.
Thanks.
