I currently use Green Chemicals for all regular cleaning. I offer an option for floor care. Because it adds on about $100 to a 5000 Square foot Strip & Finish. I have not had anyone take the Green option they always want the lower price.

Dan, There are some "green" strippers in that they use a concentrated citrus base. Concentrated degreasers act as a stripper. As well, there are neurtal pH strippers out there with no harmful contaminants ph around 8.8 that are used for linoleum that could be considered "green". Johnson's linostrip for one. Have never used it. Be warned , green strippers are going to take a lot longer and more strips so you will have to adjust your price accordingly.

"safe-strip" is a revolutionary,"user-friendly", NON-CAUSTIC, floor stripper and emulsifier. as a powerful, rinseless, mop-on, stripping agent, it liquifies and removes 7-10 coats of even the toughest urethane-fortified floor coating using high-productivity floor pads in one-step. Powerful & Effortless...
a very good "green" stripper....lol

I mostly use products that I make myself. Here are some recipees that are great! All Purpose Cleaner (makes 1 gallon) 2 cps borax , 1 cp Joy dish soap, 4 cps vinegar, 15 - 20 drops of an essential oil *NOTE* I use Joy dish soap because it is biodegradable and free of phosphates. You can also use castille soap. Boil 5 cups of water and add borax. Stir until desolved. Add the rest of ingredients, pour into a gallon jug and add enough water to make a full gallon and shake mixture well. Now its ready to pour in a squirt bottle. This is fiberglass safe too. Window and Glass cleaner (makes 1 gallon) 4 Tsp Joy dish soap or castille soap, 2 cps vinegar pour into a gallon jug, add water to make a gallon and shake well. Soft Scrubber 1 cp baking soda, 1 cp borax, Joy dish soap or castille soap, 6 drops of essential oil. Mix the boax and baking soda together dry, then add enough soap to make a frosting like consistancy. Add essential oil and store in a jar with a lid. *NOTE* Essential oils are used for aromatherapy and some are known for their antiseptic qualitys. The best choices and least expenssive are lavender , peppermint , Rosemary, and lemon. I put a few drops of an essential oil in my vacuum bags and the room will smell awesome. I also use it in my dish water, and the water I use to mop floors.

Good Point Red.
Green Cleaning is a very controversial subject. This is a very good place to discuss the pros & cons of Green Cleaning WE ARE THE CLEANING PROFESSIONALS. Maybe the chemists will read these posts and it will help them to develop cleaning chemicals that are in ever ones best interest.

I would like to see in all the articles explained to the commercial customers: the difference in cost for green cleaning. That way when a customer approaches us about green cleaning we are not the ones to explain to them why green cleaning is more expensive than normal cleaning.

Hi Russo,
You all own cleaning services, and should provide a 'green' service because of the benefits. Those benefits should be for your employees as well as your customers.
Cost must be considered because the customer is always trying to get the best service for the least amount of money.
If I could show you how to provide a 'green' program' to benefit your customers and employees, would there be a reason for us to do business together?

We use only GREEN PRODUCTS unless otherwise requested by the customer(it hasn't happened yet!). Face it, if you're going to be cleaning all day, do you want to be exposed to all those chemicals? Have you ever gotten a rash or skin irritation from a cleaning product that you were using? Have you ever inhaled bleach? Pure poison! Childhood cancer is on the rise at an alarming rate....the reason? Our environment has become toxic! We use EcoSense made by Melaleuca. They make a window cleaner, a tub and tile cleaner, a disinfectant, a general all pupose cleaner(fantastic for floors, walls and appliances!), a furniture polish, laundry detergents/additives & fab softener, and my personal favorite; Tough and Tender, a multi purpose spray cleaner. They are all free of bleach, ammonias, and phosphates. I feel good about not breathing in a bunch of deadly chemicals all day while I'm cleaning, and that I am being eco-conscious, which equates to doing the right thing by my clients, my own personal health and our environment. I am a Melaleuca representative and I can have these products shipped directly to you. We do use these products on a daily basis in both our clients and in our own homes. Contact us at our web-site: www.agirlandabroom.com, or at jsparrow@sbcglobal.net for pricing, more information, or how to become a dealer for discount pricing. Stay healthy and be well!

Great post!! I have been working hands on with numerous cleaning chemicals for years. That is the reason when I started my own business I went GREEN. I will contact you about dealer discounts. I am not happy with my current vendor.
