We had our first snowfall here in Michigan yesterday. Today starts the first full day of working in the snow. Here are some tips from my experience.
- Slow down- Not only should your driving slow down, but everything seems to slow down. Examples: Taking garbage out the dumpster takes longer, hauling in supplies, rock salt being tracked into vestibules. Employees getting to work, Everything in the winter takes longer to complete.
Window Washing- Multiple Route Jobs
If your driving all over the place, plan accordingly that it will take longer to get there, and a little longer to complete the job.
Do not allow your staff to get in a rush, thinking that they have to speed through the job, or speed to the next account.
To Fast=Sloppy Work - To Fast= Injury[/size]
Plan ahead for appointments and special jobs, give yourself an extra window of time. Be honest when setting dates and commitments. Tell the person instead of 9am you will be there between 9-930 that way yor never late.

I totally agree with this message! We got snowfall last friday and one of my employees fell down her steps on her way to check her mail and hurt her wrist and totally messed up her tail bone. She's gonna be out of work for a coupe of weeks or more.
