I have noticed that this board (restoration) does not get used much at all. Why? There are huge amounts of money being pasted up by cleaning professionals in the restoration area. Just in the past 10 days I have made $2700 just in renting my dehumidifiers and blowers. Insurance companies pay big money for dry outs as well as repairing damages caused from water and fire. It is big business and if you look at the big francises that is where they focus. I am small potatos in this part of the industry but I still make great money at it. There is a lot to learn in restoration but there are several classes out there to learn in.
I only have 2 commercial dehumidifiers, 8 blowers, and a few tools to work with. I plan on buying more equipment this year and hopefully get more work.It does not take many water damage jobs to pay for the equipment needed. Examples are
1 lgr 2000 dehu cost almost $2000. These rent for around $100 a day. A average job will take 3 to 4 days. It would only take 20 days rent to pay for this piece. 1 large axle blower (ace) rents for around $40 a day. They cost around $350. Just 10 days on job sites will make a profit on this piece. These are just a couple of examples , you still have , emergency water extraction, monitoring equipment, replacing pad, painting, repairing sheet rock, and the list goes on. Most insurance that I deal with will give you a 10% mark up and 10% profit on sub contracted work that you organize to get a job complete. Example : If I replace the linoliem in a Kitchen and used a contractor that charged me $2,000 then the insurance would pay me $2,400. Out of that I pay the contractor his $2,000 and make $400 for my time getting him set up to do the job and to make sure he does it.
The dollars add up fast on these types of jobs. But it is something that you should get educated in before attempting. You do this by taking classes in water restoration, fire restoration, applied structal drying, carpet repair and installation, carpet cleaning, odor control and so on. It is expensive to get started but it is an investment that does not take many one time jobs to get it back and start making huge profits. ???Just some thoughts for the brain.
