I`ll tell ya, Cleaning Service Owners are the smartest when it comes to marketing and advertising. Sitting down with a marketing firm yesterday to review some promotions, ad`s etc. They were very impressed. (think they want to give me a job) Several times they asked where did you learn that. They, have a masters degrees in marketing.
My answer was self taught because I had to be. Now if your reading this, and your a janitorial or cleaning service owner. I would say your marketing skill is much better than most business owners. Most service owners I know are very smart when it comes to marketing their business.
Why?
The same answer I gave the marketing firm. There is probably 20 restaurants in my town, 8 or so that have a really good meal. everyone knows which place to go eat at if they want a good meal. There is a common selection of fast foods in my town, there is a couple places to get your tires changed, a couple barber shops, a couple of churches, a couple selections of everything the consumer needs.
But There are over 400 cleaning services in my town, we, are surrounded by the same business. I do not think there is a more competitive industry that`s why Cleaning Service Owners are so smart when it comes to marketing. It is either sink or swim with us.
So when this marketing firm asked how did you learn that? That was the answer followed by ...I learned it, because I had to.

I agree 110%..A year ago when we started our business, I printed 25 fliers on my computer. Today a year later these 25 fliers have turned to 35 residential contracts and post cleaning for three construction firms. All for less than $10.00 ;D
