I am working on a proposal for a day care and they need a strip and wax to the facility. They have a lot of furniture and movable shelving that they want us to move to do the job. looking for some advice on what to bid per sqft for this job.

We do whatever we can to have them move things, by discussing liability if we break anything & the cost of having our team work as mover for them at an hourly rate. Explaining the additional cost most times helps. Anyway, S/W pricing ranges from $ .25 to $ .45 per sq ft then additional for moving things. You can estimate the moving time, but estimate high because waiting around for the final coat to dry & moving things back after your beat down from the floor job can be a bear. Try to get them to put back explaining that the new finish needs to "cure" for a night before placing flat or heavy items back on it. Most of our clients are understanding, yet daycares always moaned about it.

We do a few daycares. They all move items prior to our arrival. Simply tell them it will $200 to $300 to move the items and they magically find help to move it for you. For 5000 ft of cleared floor if finish is easy to remove , our price would be around $2000.
