One of my favorite carpet cleaners is a powder, Prochem Power Burst. I think it is a great product all around.
Pro's: 1. Powdered cleaners don't leak. We have had a lot of liqiud products break open in our vans, usually the gallon is lost. 2. In a powder cleaner containing enzymes I think activating them just before cleaning brings better results. I know liquid enzymes can go bad, I have trown away lots of black Consume.
Cons: 1. powder requires much more mixing. 2. We have had serious problems with a powder twice. The first time our hydrofoce went berzerk, it sprayed all 5 quarts in about 750sqft. When it dried the carpet was covered with white powder. We had to clean 6 times to get it to dry without powder on top. We would use just rinse agent and machine scrub it before tm hwe, but it still took 6 cleanings. Then 6 month later they had a flood, more white powder 2 more cleanings. The other time we had this problem the tech mixed it way to strong and got similar results, 3 cleanings on that one. Both of these carpets were the thickest of commercial, I think that made it worse.
