Hey everyone,
When you come in to a residence or commercial account, with intentions on cleaning the carpets and/or floors (stripping & waxing or hardwood floor care)-do you expect the furniture and other things to be already moved and out of your way? Or is moving everything that needs to be out of the way, a task of the cleaning business?
Thank You,
Chris

lol.. when we started off we moved everything. Now we give two prices 1-For moving items and placing them back into position, and 2- a price just for the floor work. All depends on how bad you want the job, and your relationship with the customer. Are you a cleaner or a mover?

When it comes to stripping floors we always ask that every thing be moved by the time we arrive to start.Stripping and waxing take a lot of time. It is to time consuming to move stuff out then wait on floor to dry to move everything back.If they do require us to move a lot of stuff other than chairs and trashcans , we charge extra. They usually would rather have there workers move stuff to save money. On carpet we always move couch, chair and small items. If bed, large dressers, cabinets, hutch or any large items have to be moved we charge extra. Also if any breakables we ask customer to move them. What you think was a $10.00 figure may have a sentimental value or antique value of $10,000.00. In an average house if they want a lot of heavy items moved we may charge around $100.00 for moving them.

Seems like, even if they are supposed to move everything, theres always something they forget to move. It always happens to us.

I charge insurance as Furniture Manipulation. On regular carpet cleaning job I just tell home owner that we have to charge for Furniture Manipulation. I always hope they say, well just go around these big items. If I do move their beds, hutch, so on I put on invoice as moving furniture. Is that the right thing to do?
