And do I mean FOAM! I've never seen anything like it! At first I thought my extractor jets were going berserk, but no, the carpet had a better head than a draft of beer!
I'm thinking a pure water rinse is in order off the bat, possibly a rinse agent. I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on the matter. It's nylon industrial grade carpet, for a multiple location contract I just took over.
All I can figure is the prior carpet people used dishwashing detergent or something. Unbelievable! I wish I would have taken a picture!
All the lather...uh, I mean all the best!

You could be right. Maybe dish washing liquid, or to much shampoo solutions, or someone just not using the right equipment , or so on. You need to clean this using an acid rinse such as End Zone, to help neutralize the soap that is already in the carpet. Use your wand to spray a mist over the dry carpet to activate the soap already there. Probably have to go over this carpet a few times to extract as much soap as possible. Use blowers to dry fast. After carpet drys there still may be a powdery substance on surface caused from wicking as the carpet drys. Use a machine with a carpet bonnet and pre spray with the acid rinse. I remember cleaning a spot once where a bottle of shampoo had been spilled. I went over this spot probably 20 times and was still getting soap out. I finally gave up and sprayed a little acid on it and speed dried it with a blower. It looked good but if any soap residues are left the carpet can become dirty very fast. You might want to let customer know that because of all the soap that was in the carpet it may need cleaned again soon.

pure water rinse is the way to go,whatever you do,do not use anymore cleaning agents on it untill you are sure it is totally foam free.also good advice from dan,let customer know about this problem before you touch carpet again.probally had high foam shampoo used on it in past,NIGHTMARE!!!!!! ,good luck

Adrian....on the second job, I tested a spot behind the selling floor -- and aborted the job. It was a morning job, and there was no way I could be done by the time they had to open the doors to the public. We've rescheduled. Dan....about that EndZone suggestion..... YOU
ARE
THE
MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had another morning job on a smaller store -- the floor didn't foam and spit at me, it came out BEAUTIFUL....and on the sign-off sheet the job was rated EXCELLENT, and the floors dry 1/2 hour before opening! You are the man! You really are the man! Doing cartwheels here!Cheers! John
