I had a lady contact me yesterday who wants to start a house cleaning business. She said she doesn't like to clean and she has no experience in the cleaning business, but she wants to watch some training videos and learn how to professionally clean and hire other people to do the cleaning. She ask what I thought. My question is: How can you train someone to professionally clean and deal with all kinds of clients when you have never done it yourself? But she did say she had a lot of money to invest. Unless you get out there for awhile and learn what it's all about, you just have no idea. Patti

I am with ya on that one Patti, but I know a guy who never cleaned before & is running a very successful commercial cleaning business?? How do they do it when someone buys a franchise like Molly Maid?

Hmm.... Well when most services start, the experience they have is basic, we all trained through the years to do what we do. Most of us are still training in one way or another.(AND SHOULD BE) I think the franchises, are an quick escape. A person expects so much when starting their service, they expect to be rich overnight. If business does not take off right a way, they get drawn into a franchise. Although I think most franchises offer a limited training package. Most people do go into this business though because they enjoy cleaning.

The lady needs to hire people that DO know how to clean to train the new hires that don't. Sure, it's possible to run a successful cleaning business without cleaning experience. Lots of people own restaurants, but they're not chefs...however, she needs to be smart enough to surround herself with people that fill in the gap of skills that she will need to make her business successful.

I totally agree with you. I just don't understand someone who doesn't like to clean and says she wants no part of the cleaning itself who wants to start a cleaning business. Usually people who start cleaning business are good at cleaning to start with and know what clients want and expect. Patti
