I am in a booming small town, population about 16,000 (?) but 7 elementary schools, two middle, two jr high, one huge high, my list of builders in this town is now over 50, it's wild I am the only cleaning company in my town. There are a few couples, and when someone tells me they are using them I leave it alone. (we all have to work) BUT, I am thinking big, I don't see it as go slow and then get big, can't afford it some franchise will come in and bet me to it. I am doing construction and commercial. But I am going to get all I can and get as big as I can as fast as I can, You Guy's that have been in this for a while, what do you think? Am I setting myself up for failure or success. Some company is going to get the business in this town, my idea why not me?

Your biggest problems are going to be burn out and employees. trust me on that one. good dependable employees are hard to find. If you try to do it all yourself you will burn out in a hurry.

I have to agree with the burn out and employees point. If you get too tired you will end up hurting yourself and then what? I'm pretty much taking care of the competition by approaching individuals cleaning for themselves out of the service section of the newspaper and asking if they want to work for me. The advantage is that I can protect them with WCB and bonding and insurance that they don't have. I also pay really well and don't get too greedy so that I can hang on to those really good workers. I also let them keep their current clients so I know I can pass work on to them piecemeal until their schedules are full. I know that in time I'll eventually get their clients too so it's no big deal. So...I'd say get your ducks in a row first so that you can offer something special to those good workers that come your way. Good Luck.

Love that idea, I know what I am paying the few employees I have is prob what the cleaners out there are making. So, as I get going I will steal your idea and call those ads in the paper. One good thing is I can check references and find out how good of cleaners they are cause they will have been cleaning. LOVE IT! Things are picking up, and going good, I am getting my little ducks in a row and trying now to tire out, I figured money well spent might be on a therapist, HEY DON"T LAUGH YET, I found one is very good at time management and stress relief, a year from now I'll be glad I did it! Two hours a month might save my butt in the long run!
