If I'm getting $150.00 for cleaning a house and I train and hire someone, do I pay them hourly (how much per hour) or by the job? I also need to take out taxes which I will have my accountant do for me. This house takes me 5 hours. If they are getting paid $7.00 per hour that's only $35.00. No one in their right mind would do a house that big for $35.00. Please share your thoughts about this. Thanks Links Of Interest [ Cleaning Forms ] [ Bidding Software ] [ Article on Bidding ]

I basically pay my employees a flat rate per job. I determine how long the job will take and pay my employees an hourly rate for that fixed number of hours. I impress on them that if the job is done correctly and they finish a bit early, I have no problem with them leaving. Vice versa, if the place is dirty and it takes them longer , they get paid the determined number of hours. Some nights I lose, other nights i gain, it has worked out well. I find that we have to pay residential help more than commercial help.

I charge an hourly rate of $25 per hour. I pay my maids 9.50 an hour. So if I have a 5 hours house, with one maid, which is also $150, I would pay her 47.50. When I send out two maids, the house is done in 2 1/2 hours and each will get paid 19. After working for me six months, I will raise them to $10/hr. Plus, they get to keep the tips from the customers.
Do you think this will work for you?

you can also pay a percentage of the job..... 30% of 150=45.00

I think the bad things about percentages, what if the job is $10,000 and your employee, sub, mother, cousin what ever you want to call them, the person works for you says : "Where is my 30%"Most that I have talked to paying percentages are skirting labor issues.

I pay by the job. i always have a team leader on the job and they make a little more then the other cleaners. Say i have a home that i know will take 3 hours ($120 for the job) the pay for the cleaner is $30 and the team leader gets $35. Its up to the team leader to make sure the home is cleaned the right way and the client is happy. This saves time for me to market more work. I do this for my apartments as well just on a lower pay rate.
