Hi everyone! I was asked to bid on a fitness facility a few days ago.... WEll, its a 7 day a week job from 10am-10pm and then again at 10pm-2am. I'll have to hire one woman and one man for each shift, (locker room purposes...)
The man tried to tell me that I need to "bid as close to $4000 as possible because thats what the current janitorial service they have is doing the job for... I may be crazy but Ive crunched the numbers FOR DAYS and I just cant imagine HOW ANY ONE can do it for that price! I mean if you pay your employees a LOW pay of $7 or $8 per hour @ 56 hours a week and then subtract for supplies and insurance... YOU PROFIT NOTHING! Am I wrong? Please tell me...
Thanks,
Allison

I would assume the 4 hour shift at 10pm is closing down cleaning? Can your staff work faster and better than their previous cleaners. Maintaining the facility while open. Making the 4 hour cleaning at close into 2 hours?
They must not be happy with the service they are receiving now for $4000? Must be a reason, your there, but you do not equate your insurance costs for only one job, unless that is your only job.
Does real close to $4000 mean $4500?
I would say you are real close to zero profit and real close to lots of hassle at $4000 month. Unless you break it into multiple shifts.
Use 2 shifts / 10-6 and 6-2 / 2 full timer 1 part time - minus breaks. NO overtime.
Smooth operations, portion controlled disinfectants used properly I would say you will make about $1000 month.
