If you have been watching the news. Some of the recent power outages in Oklahoma or Colorado. What would you do, in a major power outage, ice storm or serious city. state, or national emergency. Make a day of preparing for the worst. I am heading out and starting my kit. I plan on including everything listed that the government recommends. But then kicking it up a notch instead of the 3 day provisions. Going for two-weeks. I plan on purchasing a big closing rubbermaid container, and filling it. Doing some research online the average canned good shelf life of food in cool storage is 2 years, though I did find an army site that said they have canned goods last 46 years. So other than the basics the government recommends what else would you have or need in your emergency kit? Has anyone been through a long power outage?
