I wanted to share a mistake I made this year in hopes no one else will make the same mistake. In July of this year I injured my back on a job because I lifted something too heavy the wrong way. I have been going through treatments for over 4 months and have several more months to go. I knew how to lift things properly (with my legs instead of my back) but was in a hurry and didn't ask for help. Once you injure a disk in your back you will never be the same again no matter what they do. Make sure you know the proper lifting techniques before you lift something heavy and ask your employees to help if needed. It only takes a few seconds and one mistake to change your whole life. Patti

Very good advice Patti. The worse I ever hurt my back , was picking up an empty milk jug. Its not only the heavy things that can hurt you. As I was bending over I leaned top part of body to the right so as to be able to reach the jug. It caused great pain due to a disc buldging out. It took me a long time to get over it and I still have to be careful when bending over. Bending the knees while lifting will help to keep you straight and take the strain off your back.

Unless you are old and broken like me, then the knees hurt, the back hurts, the elbow hurts, the wrist hurts, the ankle hurts, the upper leg hurts and then the head hurts from listing all the things that hurt. No wonder I'm grumpy. All kidding aside, the first thing I do with a new employee is go over the proper mopping procedures, lifting procedures etc. etc.
