My new manager ( step daughter ),
has been managing well since June. She is into the business & anxious to contribute. She has asked to dabble in phone sales as well & in the near future to go visit clients with me. Should be fun.
I have had her visit sites online like bigger cleaning services websites & to read some things on ISSA etc. to get her seeing more of what the cleaning business has to offer.
I have 2 questions:
What other ideas do you have to feed the fire & keep her fired up as she goes through her nightly duties that can become a drag.
2. In years past I used to print Dunn & Bradstreet listings for numbers to call for sales, is there anything like that online with free phone numbers that I can forward to her.

Just because you think the nightly duties are a drag. Doesn`t mean she does. If she is referring to the job , at under 90 days as a drag. You got a bigger problem. Many services put managers in charge, with mundane duties. Check this, check that, clean this, clean that, help here, help there. Get her to the meat of the business performing duties which are beneficial to the company, things you have put off doing, or things that free up your time for more important duties. Create your list of monthly duties you want her to perform along with daily duties. Explain why they are important. How about lessons of increasing productivity, performance and lowering costs. Put on paper your current labor, supply cost, chemical cost for each account, give her a number where it should be. Let her work on improving, a goal to attain. How about some employee relations, she`s in charge of them now, how about some HR polls, put her in charge of a employee reward program. How about some safety: Checking every building for safety issues that might affect staff ,perform blinded egress (blindfold employees from areas of building, have them get outside) As far as sales, maps.google.com/ example: put in Doctors Howell Michigan then hit button (text version) I heard once of a company that had family members as managers. The head of the family contacted a local non-profit in the area,(homeless shelter) and told them the situation, how they want to train their family members to be the best. Volunteered the services of the manager to go twice a week to clean the place up. In turn the homeless shelter issued a donation receipt monthly. You might want to do this. Check with your accountant first to see if you can benefit tax wise, your family management team sure will benefit. Humble, hardworking and caring.

Hitting Goals & heading up the employee reward program are very good. I think visiting a successful fired up cleaning company that is out of our area would be good for her as well, I dunno maybe a company Downriver or something

lol, you wouldn`t want that. If she came to work for me for a week. She would end up knowing more about the business than you. I would prefer you for a week to get you excited about all duties related to janitorial, if you refer to them as a drag, she will surely think the same. Your enthusiasm is her enthusiasm.Been keeping this on the down low, but in the matter of a month IJCSA will have a state of the art 20,000 sq ft. facility offering janitorial training/ along with all types of classes for cleaning service employees and owners. Right here in good ol`e Downriver Michigan.

I was hinting for a tour of PURITY to take her with me, but it sounds like the IJCSA facility might also be a good idea to come look at. You are corrrect that attitudes can be infectious. After 11 years the nightly duties do seem as though they can get repetitive etc. But rest assured I am having her look at indstry mags & stuff we picked up at conventions etc. She has been around the business a long time. The idea is to feed her desire. Let me know how everything is progressing & about the VIP tour.... I will watch my private messages for feedback
