If I were bidding this I would not give a total price. I would ask how many is going to be attending. What type of meal will they be having? How long is the event planned for? Do you have any kitchen appliances to clean? Is there an on site dumpster? Do you have to spot clean spills on carpet? Do you have to fold or wash table cloths, towels? Do you have to clean chairs, floors, restrooms? Do you have any thing outside to take care of? Do you have to take down or put away decorations?
I would estimate to myself how long it will take. I would keep in mind this is a one time job. Profit margin would be set a little higher. I would then give them my minimum price with an hourly rate. if it goes over the minimum , then a per man hour charge. Also throw in any benefits to them that may help influence their decisions such as you are insured, bonded, have workers comp and so on.
This could be an easy job or it could be a very hard job. No way to know. At any rate it is a one time job and you sure do not want to do it and end up not making any profit. If you do an hourly rate that is right then you will make a profit.
There are a lot of people out there that are willing to clean at a very low hourly rate. If you do not get the job and they do then it is better that they slave at it then you being the one stuck doing the dishes for near nothing.
