Someone asked me today to do a detailed cleaning on the inside of a 21 Ft. Sail Boat and he wants the outside sprayed down with a cleaner then power-washed. Also wants it waxed. Can anyone help me with this please? I have no idea where to even begin with a price. He wants me to do it, because he says I don't play around, "I am fast" when I clean and I do a good job. I would rather give him a set price. He thinks it will only take someone like me around 2 hours so I am figuring it probably takes him around 4. Has anyone here ever did this type of cleaning and can you help me please??
Thanks, Linda

i've never cleaned a boat, either but i would charge about 200.00 for the amount of work your customer wants. be carefull not to score the boat w/ your pressure sprayer. keep it at least 6 inches away w/ about 1500 psi of water. good luck!

Hey everyone,
Thanks for info :-) I spoke to my brother-in-law who has his own detailing business. He charges $11.00 a ft. plus $100.00 for the wax and wax job (he said the best thing he's used so far is Teflon wax (sealer) and if the bottom of the boat needs alot of labor to charge another $50.00. He uses CLR for the lime around the boat, and plastic putty knives to loosen the bratanicals (sp?) on bottom of the boat (no scraping, just a little tapping). Charges extra if trailor needs cleaned. For a 21 ft. boat it takes around 6 hours for 2 people to clean inside and out, including wax job. A friend of mine just finished his boat (26 ft.) took him 11 hours. He said he would be more than willing to pay a good $350.00 to have his boat cleaned by someone else. Hope this is helpful for anyone else interested in this type of cleaning :-)

Maybe you can just refer the hull job to him, and collect a referral fee.
