I had a lady contact me the other day for a quote on her home. I gave the quote and then she said she had a cleaning service but they didn't clean her bedroom and she wanted us to come and just clean the bedroom. Gimme a break! How can people expect you to drive 30 miles to clean one room. What I couldn't figure out is why the other cleaning service didn't clean her bedroom. I just can't get over what some people ask us to do. Patti

lol, I am going thru that right now Patti. A girl at work wants me to clean for her, but she only wants her bath and kitchen cleaned I have a feeling I am not going to get the job. My minimum is $65.00 for bi-wkly. Since I work with her I have thought maybe quoting her $60.00 but I dont think I am going to go any lower. I need jobs that will do away with my working for another company. Besides, these are the two most time consuming rooms in the whole dang house. Linda

Only her bedroom? That is really weird.
I think the question you should be asking is: Why is that the only room the cleaning service won't clean? What the hell is in there? Hehe.
......25 years of garbage, her dead husband, a meth-lab.....it could be anything! ;D

Lol that was too funny!
Reminds me of a man i cleaned for back in May 2005. He wanted a one time only clean of his home. I went to do the walkthrough and he insisted we only clean the downstairs. Not to go upstairs.
I went to do the cleaning and got a weird feeling. I saw pictures of him and his wife all over the home. Wedding pictures, pictures of them riding horses together, vacation photos,etc....
In the bathroom was cosmetics, jewelry, curling irons, hairspray, womans razors in the tub, and feminine products. So i knew a woman had to live there, or once live there.
When i got to the living room to clean, the entrance way to the stairs that went to the 2nd floor was covered in a sheet ,then a blanket ,then also had a shower curtain draped over both the blanket and sheet. It was like he REALLY didn't want me to know what was upstairs.
It was so weird. Not once did we see a woman, his wife or anyone during both visits i was there. There was a small car parked in the carport with a flower air freshener hanging and beanie babies in the back window. He drove a large pickup. So i knew the car wasn't his.
I was afraid i was cleaning a crime scene or something. lol Weird!
I told my husband i felt weird there and if he called for another cleaning i was gonna answer the phone and tell him i had no openings for cleaning till 2020 or something.lol

We have had customers in the past, and current customers that request this, some go as far as having a deadbolt on certain room doors.....hmmm whats behind that door? Also many calls just for kitchen and bathroom cleaning not having other rooms in their house.

That is odd to only want one room cleaned. Amy, the situation you had does sound pretty strange...you could only hope they were renovating. I haven't come across any clients like that ...yet.

The new job that I have just started this week, includes laundry, the lady doesn't dry anything but towels, underwear, and sheets. Everything else is hung up in the laundry room to dry. Also there is not much room to put the clean clothes because thy have so many. Probably have more clothes than ALL us on this board combined. Amy

If i do a job, no matter how little it is I think its best to stick the minimum of $65. It would be worth it. Especially with having to pay employees.

I clean houses by myself part time. I recently posted an ad for small jobs done meaning one or two rooms just floors etc. I would carge a minumum according to how far job is of $40 -$50.
I have got some jobs this way & have no employees to pay. Is it profitable to do this for a single cleaner? I also keep running into clients wanting to not pay my regular minumum for a one bathrm size house or apt of $75. I seem to be competing w/alot of other cleaners who drastically underbid on jobs. They might charge $10 -$15 hr but work slow so they get at least 4 hrs work.

If her cleaning company doesn't do bedrooms she should let them go and hire someone who does bedrooms to do her whole house. Better than having 2 companies, one for 1 room the other for the rest of the house.

Well, it could be that she didn't want the other cleaning company to clean her bedroom. Maybe she caught them going through her things or found things in her drawers that had been gone through by this company or her regular cleaning company she didn't want to clean her bedroom for some strange phobia of them seeing her personal space. Who knows really.

Its also possible that she has no other cleaning company and just wants the bedroom cleaned. We've given many quotes to people who say they have recently had a cleaning service, and I can tell their place hasn't been cleaned in about 20 years or so. I once had someone ask for a quote for a bi-weekly cleaning. She told me she had another company cleaning the other bi-weekly. This was another time there was no possibility of any cleaning done- ever.
