I received this email from a lady today. I was wondering if any of the floor experts here can help.
I have an area rug over hardwood(oak) floor. My dog had urinated on it about 1yr ago. I had put a paper towel under the rug thinking it would help. Now after removing the rug the papertowel will not come off. It's sort of just this white spot but only little pieces of the paper comes off. What can I use to get it all of. Thanks.

Patti, am I reading this right, she has had that paper towel under the rug for a year? Now she wants it off? Let's see, the uriatic acid has etched the floor, probably etched the urethane, paper has started to degrade. In this situation, and let me say I am not a wood floor expert, the area probable needs to be sanded out with prgressively finer grits of paper until all the stained spot is removed and then she can apply new coats of urethane to that area. If the area is a little lighter, she may have to experiment with an oak stain to darken the area and then apply the urethane. The dog did not continue to urinate in the same spot? Good dog.
