I just read the following at CMM Online (Cleaning & Maintenance Management): "Vacuum instead of sweeping or dust mopping. Vacuuming hard floors using an efficient backpack vacuum is faster than sweeping or dust mopping in congested areas, removes more soil and reduces airborne dust and damp mopping." Would you say this is true? To be honest, I've never heard anyone say this...

In most cases I would say yes that is true. It is fast and easy to take your back vac around obstacles and I think it will pick up more then sweeping alone. They are also great for multi floor facilities. We do common areas that have carpet, stairs, tile, and stone and the back vac goes from one to the other with no slowing down.

I would have to agree also. I always vaccum my residentials hard surfaces. Faster and easier than sweeping or dust mopping and keeps the dust out of the air.
