I would like to know what you guys do to keep wax from getting on the base do you put tape on the base or are you just that good at waxing? I have a hard time not getting wax on the base if i don't put tape on them i have used the Rubbermaid flat finish mop with the loop ends and i have used the Rubbermaid microfiber flat finish mop but i still get a little wax on the bottom of the base please help? It takes so long to put tape on the base.

Use the Rubbermaid flat finish mop, turn the mop lengthwise to the baseboard and run it along about 1/2 " away from the baseboard. This gives the effect that the floor is waxed right to the edge but keeps any wax off the baseboard. Inside corners and door frames, piece of the mcirofibre flat mop, small amount of finish , same procedure but by hand. Blend in with first coat main part of floor.

I always tell client that they have two options before the strip job. One, we can stay away from the edge about an inch so as not to get wax on the baseboard but that if they do this that edge will darken fast and be hard to keep clean. Two, we can wax right up to the edge but that will mean that we have to get wax on the bottom lip of the baseboard. Since I have started asking this before the strip we have never had one customer tell us to stay off the edges. If you do not ask and they come in and see wax/finish on the baseboard then it is a whole new ball game and you may have to do something to satisfy them.
If you do have to go to the trouble of taping or some other measure then be sure to charge for the time it will take to prep the area being finished. Make sure you make enough to make it worth your pain staking time.
