Would like everyone's opinion on an estimate I gave today. First I want to say this lady is very neat and tidy. The home is a little dusty. They moved in about a month ago. No pets. 2 children. She is a wahm. The home is, im guessing around 3500 sq.ft. 2 ceiling fans that I would need an extention ladder to reach. Very very high ceilings. I think I can get one from the balcony lol. 3 floors the 3rd floor is a finished basement. Nicest looking basement I have ever seen in my life actually, goes all the way around with stairs in the middle. Looks like a little apt. 3 rooms with no bath. Anyways, here is the description and the price I gave her....
around 3500 sq.ft. 4 Bedrooms 2 Full baths 1 Half bath Living Room Family Room Den Kitchen Dining Room Laundry Room One set of wooden blinds to be cleaned About half the home is hardwood floors and tile, the rest is carpet including stairs. About 6 inches on side of stair steps is hardwood flooring. I priced the initial at $175.00 plus 6.5% sales tax and a bi-weekly clean at $140.00 plus 6.5% sales tax. She lives an hour away from me. I think I may be pricing things too high and I really need to know. Can anyone help?
Thanks, Linda

How is it that you get $150 -$190 for 2-21/2 bathrms size houses bi weekly. I charge $75- 1 bathrm maintenance & up & people here think that's outrageously priced!
I have competition from these low charging cleaners that charge $10 -$15 hr. They think it's 1980! I go thru alot of clients in all towns & income levels that think anything over $25 hr is highway robbery!!!
How do I get proper pay for a good job done? I am a individual cleaner not a agency.

Linda I think the initial is pretty close but the bi-weekly seems a little high. Patti

See that is what I dont understand. She was fine with the bi-weekly rate, but wasnt fine with the initial rate. I think she just doesnt want to pay for an initial clean. Thanks Patti for the feedback Linda

Linda I run across people like this from time to time. Sometimes I will lower the initial cleaning just to land the job, but I won't do an initial for a maintenance cleaning price. People don't realize how long it can take to do the initial, especially if the home hasn't been properly cleaned in months. The initials can sometimes take 8 man hours to clean. Then you have the clients that try to deal with you like you are running a yard sale. They will start taking this room and that room off the cleaning or they will tell you that these rooms aren't used that often so what will the quote be without those rooms. I don't fall for that any longer. The rooms that never are used mysteriously are dirty every time you go to clean. Patti
