Cleaning Service Owners Make Good Landlords
Dear Kevin,
I noticed you also offer property management services, I am very interested in this. How did you incorporate your janitorial service into the real estate business.
Thank You,

Answer: I was in the real estate business before the janitorial business. I started purchasing investment properties starting in 1994 coming from my first corporate job, I needed some secondary investments along with additional write-offs. This is before the idea of Purity even came along. After I started Purity being a landlord and the service went hand in hand. Many of Purity`s services are developed as services that I performed on my own properties. I also thought other landlords would be able to use the services, as I needed the services. I took a 8 week class and got my real estate license, in between the leaving of the corporate job and the start of Purity.
I also think cleaning service owners make very good landlords. As we have mainly the tools and experience to get the job done.
Along with keeping properties at a steady positive cash flow, it gives the service owner an added retirement fund. Many homeowners have their nest egg. The home they will sell when they retire. Why not sell 10, 20, 30 properties when you retire?
I would suggest to any service owner that is thinking about heading into property management to purchase their first couple rental properties themself. Get some experience dealing with tenant issues, and the legalities of city inspections. It won`t hurt to take some real estate classes also.
Right now it is a buyers market. You can buy depressed properties, or undervalued homes now easily and quickly. If you enjoy repairs along with cleaning, subsidizing your income and retirement. Landlord definitely should be your new title. Once you are comftorable handling your own properties start offering the service to your friends and family, move on to the general public from there.
