I recently stripped and waxed at a church and there were 3 foot prints that were waxed over. The reason being part of this project included a gymnasium floor so after stripping they repainted the lines and I told them to leave there shoes at the door, and they did. Well anyway the footprints from some shoes were waxed over and now they're concerned. My question is can one strip just a small area say 4 tile and not notice or does one have to strip the whole area? There was also a couple of yellow spots which I'm guessing is missed stripper in a washroom which they want removed. I have no problem stripping the washroom and redoing it but can you do just a small area? I've never had this problem with redoing an area but having employees in one area and me in another you can't always see what's missed. Can anyone help they want an answer tomorrow. The footprints are apparently faint but noticeable and in the kitchen area near the exit only. The flooring in question is all VCT.

You can strip a small area. You have to be extremly careful. It can be done without tape but probably would be better to tape around the area your doing. Also use rubber backed rugs under all buckets and equipment. It may leave a faint line around the edge of what you redo but that can be buffed out later. After it is completely dry , remove tape and any residue from tape. Lightly buff over the edge of it. You might even put a thin coat on after tape is removed and go over the line about a foot to the next line to help blend it in. You can just use hand scrapers and doodle bug pad to strip the area. Don't flood the area , just put enough to emulsify the finish and do it repeatedly until it is all up. If they had some one or another contractor that left the footprints than I would charge then for the restrip. If it was your guys then I would do it for free.
As far as the yellow spot in restroom, I have saw several yellow areas caused from cleaners; urine; and or mats that I could not get out. Hopefully that is not the case here and it comes up when you restrip that area. I always tell client in the event there are already yellow areas on a floor that it might not come up when stripped. That way they are mentally prepared.

Thanks Dan, Those footprints weren't ours they were whomever painted the lines on the gym floor the day before I waxed. If I'm right they got 7 volunteers to do this.
As far as the yellow I think it was stripper that wasn't washed off properly and that being said I'll redo the washrooms free.
