Like a lot of folks here, I'm going to have to start my business part-time and then work myself out of a full-time job. I currently work 10am - 7pm. With that said I'm wondering what services I can start out with to work around this schedule. I wanted to do construction clean-up but I think I'd need my days available. On the other hand though, if I do restaurants at night I'd have to start after hours as well.
Here's another factor that comes into play. I live in Maryland and will be relocating back to Atlanta in 9 months. I don't want to sit on my butt until then but I don't want to try and establish any contracts and find myself packing up and heading to Atlanta. My dilema here is what kind of services can I offer that won't require me to make a long term contract?
Your thoughts on this are greatly appreciated. Let me know if I need to provide any clarity.

Carpet Cleaning, Pressure Washing Or Floor Care. I would not spend a dime on anything until your situated in your new state. Maybe contact a local service now, tell them your moving the state and see if you can get some part time work filling in at a busy service until you move.
Learn the ropes, see if you like the rope, then buy the rope.

Thanks Kevin for the quick response. Being an IT person I see it's easier to find IT related jobs than it is to find floor/carpet care jobs. I'll keep looking though. If anyone from Maryland needs or knows someone wanting FREE help in exchange for experience before I go to Atlanta please let me know. I'm available after 7pm and the weekends...I will NOT be a waste of your time!!! Thanks.

After doing what I feel is some thorough "googling" I can't find much other than the really small cleaning services around me. Can someone throw me a bone on this one? Honestly, I'm not even sure who the "large, established cleaning companies" are? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your welcome Terrell, there are some large national services ABM, One-source, Unicco.
Surely you have franchises in your area also. Jani-King, Coverall , Service Master. This does not actually mean the franchise owners are large or established, let alone doing any janitorial service work. Most services if I would have to say national average are 1-5 employees, cleaning roughly ten or under contract locations.
