Skunk sprays a dog. Dog enters house. Dog rubs on carpet and furniture.
I have some success with cleaning carpet with solvents added and deodorizers added. We follow with fogging and then shortly there after we use a negative air flow machine and blowers.
Do any of you have a good remedy for skunk odor? What do you use to wash the dog?
My method works pretty well , but there is still a hint of that odor in the air even after all we do.
Any advice is appreciated. Dan

Ok this is going to sound very strange, but I am sure there are others who have tried this method. I cant help with the odor on furniture, but as far as the dog I was always told to wash in tomato juice. I have never had to do this, but I know others who have. Not their animal, but themselves. They say it works great Linda

tomato juice works on the dog but for it to be really effective you need to soak it at least 15 min. For the odors in the house try saturatuating them with white vinegar. It will smell untill it drys then you won't be able to smell the vinegar and it should take care of the skunk smell.

Dan - I ran into a similar problem about 10 years ago. My dog chased a family of skunks under a porch then got stuck...continously sprayed for at least 15 min. Needless to say he smell nasty...soaked in their spray ..to the point of dripping..so gross. After the embrassment of buying 10 bottles of the Femine product -Douche and gagging on the Tomato juice I called the vet and picked up a products called Skunk Off- by Thornell Corp. (I still have an partial bottle here) lol ...It worked like a charm. I even washed my clothes in it too. www.petrx.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPRODGROUP&ID=116Interesting tips from here..best ones toward the bottom..I like the idea about Zero Odor: www.thriftyfun.com/tf576594.tip.htmlMore tips: www.ehow.com/tips_3017_4.htmlGodd luck- I know the pain and smell.. yuck!
