Did you know a spot on a clients carpet is their problem until you touch it. If you try to get spot up and it gets any bigger; fuzzes carpet or changes color; the spot now belongs to you. If client so chooses you could have to repair or replace carpet. Be careful on spots. I highly recommend taking a class on spot cleaning. Check with your supplier.Prepare your customer before attempting to remove spots. I never grantee spot removal as you never know for sure what it actually is unless you saw it put there. You could have them sign a piece of paper but I don't know if it would hold up in a court of law. If I have a spot I am not to sure about I will tell the client and explain some of the possibilities and then precede according to how they react to me. I have never had a problem with clients. I have had problems with some spots but because I made them aware of it before I attempted anything they were OK with it. Just some food for thought. Dan

Hi Dan! You are correct to advice cleaners to take a spot removal class. Notice i said spot removal for a spot can be removed a stain is permanent and can never be removed. Often cleaners think that they have removed a stain only to have it appear once again within a few days or months. If the spot is not properly treated it may disappear but it wont be gone. I do guarantee spot removal once I have gathered and documented the proper and necessary info from my client (which will stand up in court) after having done so I explain as to what procedures I will be using for the spot removal and explain to them that I have a high success rate in removing that type of spot as long as I know what it is that caused it and what the cleaning attempts were made to remove it prior to me working on it. Once they see that this is a serious business and they might have made things worse by trying a do it yourself method- I usually find that the client will not hold me responsable for "their" stain since they already tried every "magic potion" on the market and could not get it out and since I explain to them how using the wrong spot removal procedures most likely the spot is now a permanent stain I find that most people will blame their own incompetence for making things worse. By the way 9 out of 10 times I am able to remove the spot and then I'm their hero for makling them look good and they don't mind paying the $80 spot removal fee for it cheaper then buying a new carpet or listening to their spouse complain about -that mess you made.
