I did a movein/out recently and let me tell you it was horrid. The owner just called me to see if I would return to the home that has been sprayed a 2nd time for roaches and flees. He wants me to remove all the carpet and then it will be sprayed again. This place was covered with bugs. Such a nice home too. It is a 3 bedroom 2 full bath home. I would guess around 1000 sq.ft. Maybe a little bigger. The bedrooms and the living room has carpet. Does anyone do this type of work and if so how would you price removing the carpet? So far all he wants done afterwards is a good sweep. Personally I think it should be cleaned again. There was no electric the first time but there will be electric this time. If he sprays again I am sure he will be calling us again so I am just lost on how to price this part of the job. Can anyone help? There are still flees in the carpet. Thanks, Linda

I would be sure to spray myself down before entering again. A lot of dust and bug poop will be in the air. I would wear mask, goggles and gloves. I would also have some ventalation pulling to the outside. I would charge about $90 a pickup truck bed load to haul off plus charge for any charges that landfill may charge . I would charge by the foot for removal at around .25 cents a square foot. Or you may want to just charge a flat hourly rate per man hour of around $25 man hour. That would include driving time to dumpster.

He just wants the carpet removed and sat outside. We dont haul it off. I havent measured the rooms, but will do that this evening if at all possible. I will also give him a call and ask about hauling if off, but the other stuff that was left in the home he had us to sit out for the garbage man. Thanks so much Dan. This is something I havent done before, but want to be able to do most of what a job like this would consist of.
Thanks again, Linda

Make sure he does not want to save padding. He might. If so charge a little extra for that. It is much easier to handle and to take the carpet out if you can cut it into strips. This would cut the padding too. If removing the pad you might want to get some large trash bags to put it in. Will make hauling it off much easier. Take a good carpet knife with you and new blades. Good luck. Don't let the bugs bite.

I should never read this stuff before bed. I'll be itching and scratching all night!! Good info Dan. Thanks for the reminder about the masks and spraying down before entering again. Good luck, Linda!
