PLEASE VOTE IN THIS POLLI'm starting to provide quotes to some offices and I have added in an "Initial Clean-Up Fee" to our proposals. Do you think it's a good idea? I remember having these on the proposals I would look over as an office manager. I would sometimes wonder "Is this just a cash grap?" If so, how do you figure out what the charge should be? Do you just add on a % to what you have calculated for a regular cleaning?

I never charged an initial cleaning fee. I really don't think its a good idea. at least in my area.. BUT, if it really needs a major clean up, then i might charge it. for instance there was major construction done i would charge it as a post construction clean up. then summit a bid for t the regular cleaning...

Well it really depends on the situation. If its an account that has been neglected by the previous cleaning service then yes i charge an initial fee. Many times i make this a yearly event, fall or spring cleaning. I include wall washing, enclosed light cleaning (remove bugs ect) clean the glass, carpets, tile if any. Keeps the appearance of the building emaculate. If its a new building many times there happy to go along with it. In the older buildings there tickled pink to see it so clean and will go with the program.

It would have to be pretty bad for us to charge an initial now. We actually did in the beginning & if I remember right it was about double the daily rate??
Now I explain that it will take a few cleanings to get the building in shape or something like that.
we havent seen any real dumpers for awhile

For us it truly depends on the condition of the building. We mostly don't however.

It really depends on the condition of the location, but in most instances no. You can usually get a feel for the new account by your initial site visit. If they're very excited about getting a new company because the old one sucked and it will take a lot of work to get it in shape, I usually do charge for an initial clean. If it seems like your up against some stiff competition or its not that bad you may want to pass on an initial clean fee. Typically it's 2-3 times a normal clean depending on size and frequency.
