I saw this post on another board :
I was just talking to my wife about it. I get this maybe once or twice a year in the business. This year it coincided with throwing my self into projects around my house ( some renovations ) that are keeping me busy. Any way....
I have my wife that seems to step it up when I pull back a bit, so our company doesnt suffer. What happens is I seem to get a burned out, " same stuff different year " attitude. Then after my brief time "away" I get fired up & dive in. I always end up coming back , making some changes, getting things off my to do list & having a new interest in the business.
It even affects my posting on the board as some may have noticed.
What about you all? ( thanks for the post idea Jeff )

I agree, 7 days a week, 51 weeks out of the year, I go for maybe a year and a half and then things start to slip. No desire to approach new business, details start to go, then I need at least a change in routine. A weekend fishing something. I am about at my limit right now. Just had to deal with employee substance abuse problem, here in Ontario you need to offer treatment and cannot just fire the person or you may face wrongful dismissal action. More problems.

I like to plan a vacation, If I cant take one. Example: I will get online book a vacation for 4 months away. Then when burnout comes along, go to my vacation destination online and read up on things that I want to see, add a tour to the vacation etc.... I also have a punching bag in the basement that I will go hit for an couple hours straight screaming at the top of my lungs in a blind rage over and over.....THIS IS AFFECTING MY BUSINESS, GET OVER IT!! usually after my knuckles are all bloodied up, and I have lost my voice.. the burnout syndrome goes away.....lol...lmao 10ways to beat burnout www.inc.com/articles/2001/06/22905.html

This sounds so familar. I get burn out about once every 6-8 months. I have to take a couple days off and clear my head. After that I am fine for another 6 months. I think it happens to a lot of us. Patti

I get burned out once in a while from work, but I always remember when I first started and had nothing, and I was burnt out mentally looking for work. so I figure better to burn out working, than looking for work.
