I was outside today cutting grass. I was privileged enough to see a Cardinal building a nest. It really is an amazing site. One twig, or piece of brush at a time. The twig carefully put into place, then the bird fly`s away to find another piece for the homestead. Well, heres where the story gets interesting every time the Cardinal would go search for another twig, along comes what I believe to be a sparrow taking a piece of the Cardinals nest. This happened over and over. The Cardinal on about the 6th or 7th trip realized something is a miss, looking around below the nest seeing if any pieces fell to the ground. Looking at me, looking at the dog...lol So carefully a few minutes later, the Cardinal heads off to find yet more twigs, this time in distance of the nest,(one eye on twigs, one eye on the nest) and this time when the Sparrow arrived so did the Cardinal. Some back and forth chirping went on the flutter of wings, the sparrow was gone. So how can I relate this to janitorial cleaning business. It takes a long time to build a nest (one account at a time), someone always wants your twigs (account). You better cause a scene and ruckus if you catch them in the act. ....lol
