It turned out great! I wish I had taken pictures of the before and after now. We did it all by hand because the area's to be done wern't that big, but it was still a first for me. I was really supprised by how well it came out.
Thank you everyone for the great advice of this board. I would have never been able to even think about doing something like this without it!

Wondering how you did it by hand. I have never stripped or waxed a floor yet,but i gave a bid on 3 banks and their hallway is VCT and needs a good wax. Small hallway. Maybe 10ft long x 4ft wide. If i get the job, i would like to wax it for them, but don't know how.

It depends on the type of finish on a floor and size as to whether it should be done by hand or machine. If a simple finish that removes easy , you could use a small pad called a doodle bug pad or also I have saw small pads that are mounted on a small plastic hand held tool at wal mart and other places that I think are used to clean things like grills. They are in the cleaning section. You might also need a scraper. You can rent a machine at most rental stores along with a black pad. Machine usually does a much better job than doing by hand. It is a little hard getting use to operating one of these. I would suggest playing around with it in a wide open area such as your garage before trying it on a job. To operate you lift up on handle to go right and push down to go left and some where in the middle will hold machine in one place. Also if you are stripping a hall or other small areas be sure to cover any carpet with matting . The stripper, equipment, finish can all make a big mess on the carpet if it is not protected. See the How to Strip and Finish Guide for more detail info.
