I hope this message doesn't offend anyone. I know I'm new here, but please don't take it personally. Here goes, I think to much is being made about cleaning products. Green products, aroma therapy products, grocery store products. I understand about the environment and save the whales and all. Most customers really don't care about the environment. They just want a good, dependable service. Going on 14 yrs working 6-7 days a week, turning business away must say something. We have used every product out there, but for a small mom and pop service we always go back to buying supplies at walmart.
The secret is not in the product, its all in how you use it. I know they will probably kill me, but I am OK so far. It all boils down to your work ethic. I grew up using products such as elbow grease and spit shine. So if you don't have callouses on your knees, or your back doesn't ache, maybe it's not your products. Give that job an extra 15 mins. and it will pay off in the long run. Just my 2 cents worth. Rusty

Did you know that by buying cleaning products at Wal-Mart , you too are helping cut down on the use of some strong products . I have been told by several reps that the products sold over the counter are not as strong as the products sold from cleaning chemical suppliers. The most recent rep that told me this was from ZEP. He said the over the counter zep products had either some chemicals removed or were in much less concentrate form. he went on to say the commercial products were much stronger and would work much better. Its up to each of us to decide what we use and how much we are willing to give up. I have started using some safer products and will continue to search for safe products that work. If the demand is there the chemical companies will continue to improve there green products. I do believe that the earth needs help. Every thing we do makes a difference whether big or small. I know I could do more as we all probably could. Such as recycling, disposing of motor oil properly and more. I applaud anyone who puts forth any extra effort in this area. I agree that in most cases the client does not seem to care . The government doesn't seem to care a lot either. At least thats my opinion.
Rusty, If you are working 7 days a week and turning away work , why do you continue to be a Mom and Pop operation? Just courious as to the benifit, Dan

Hi Dan, Thanks for the input, I understand about chemicals not being as strong off the shelf. That's my point using stronger chemicals only invites problems if not properly trained or diluted the right ratio.
The places we clean are high dollar homes with things like gold fixtures (I hate) or huge glass shower enclosers. Unless your into some industrial, or a nasty move out then I see no need to use harsh chemicals and risk etching, granite, marble or natural stone. Which seems everyone is going to.
As far as not expanding that's why I'm here. The wife has fear Issues, no control issues and all that goes with hiring and training personnel. I basically gave her an ultimatum, it's now or never. Using the base of customers we have and with people from here we will get there. I respect you already Dan and can tell you want the best for everyone here. Thanks, Rusty

I have mixed feelings on this. There the side that says "my customers don't care, it's cheaper, and works faster for me", and that's the side that choses clorox cleanup from walmart (love the prices) Then there is the side that realizes that in respect for the life and earth God gave us, I should try to be one less person to contribute to all the problems (like global warming, ect...) we are now facing. I also do realize that harsh chemicals act as irritants to our lungs and sinuses. This part of me weighs the option of saving this one mans show a few bucks or saving the earth and customer from unwanted irritating fumes and chemicals. This side of me became involved with melaleuca. There products are great and it's not expensive. I definately challenge everyone to at least give the green method a try. melaleuca.com/I use thier products and also keep my spry bottle of clorox clean up for those days that I'm not feeling very earthy.
