i will be looking and learning It's much better to ask the question in a post instead of individual emails. In a post, everyone can learn from the questions and answers.

David, did you just use microfiber on all the walls? No vacuums? Must have been time consuming...

That's the same thing I ran into. Most agents, as soon as they here we are a brand new small business especially a cleaning one, want nothing to do with us. My first quote was somewhere around $12,000 per year! I told him I might as well close before I open with that price... Just keep shopping around, you might get something better, you might not. But it doesn't hurt to try... Check out this thread that I started about my quest for insurance. usacleaning.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=Commercial&action=display&thread=1156405205

Well, I'm in Canada so I'm not sure if that price is good or not What I can suggest is to take the quote you received (make sure it contains all the information) and take it too another insurance agent. Show him what you have and if he can beat it.

Kathleen, at least you have something to work with! From the sounds of it, doesn't seem like your doing to bad without one!

I'm just finishing my business plan and was wondering if everyone else has one.
I found it difficult to do when I first sat down a few months ago to do, but now that I'm 100% free to focus on it I'm finding it fairly simple to do.
Just remember, it doesn't have to be something super formal unless you plan on approaching a bank or investors with it.

I live in Howick, population of 1,500 and that includes the cows. Howick is 40 kms south of Montreal and that's the major market I'll be targeting. What I'm wondering is should I keep my business address as Howick?
Cons: I'm afraid that potential clients won't see my company as a serious one or that it's too far to handle emergency calls, etc.
Pros: Keeping my local address might help me in getting local contracts as they will be more inclined to support a local business.
Any thought s on this? Or am I worrying about nothing?

Bill From Ontario is roughly 8 hours from you, only a idea, but maybe contact him and see if he has any upcoming floor work that you could watch, I cant see you being his competition. Drive out for a couple of days, and watch a pro in action. Hey Kevin, this is an excellent idea. I never thought of that! Funny thing is I'll be in Toronto for a week at the beginning of June to fulfill the retention bonus portion of my severance package. I'll get an expenses paid trip to Toronto and at the same time, if Bill agrees, I can get training on my new profession! Thanks for the Idea, I'll get in touch with Bill and see what he is open to. Thanks!

Before I jump into the Commercial Cleaning business, should I work for someone else first?
I have complete confidence in my ability to manage, market, and provide customer service to my clients. What I do lack is cleaning abilities. Don't get me wrong, I know how to "clean", I know how to empty garbages, mop floors, vacuum etc., but I know nothing about polishing floors, cleaning carpets, and so on.
I know I probably should start by working for someone else, but I hate the idea of it...

Bill, isn't isopropyl alcohol the same as rubbing alcohol? I believe the only difference is that rubbing alcohol is very diluted and contains other chemicals so you can't be intoxicated from it... Do you use pure isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol? What dilution do you use? Just a warning to others that might want to use isopropyl alcohol (I'm sure Bill knows this ), I believe it is extremely flamable...

Maybe you are right! Maybe the people taking it out said they wouldn't touch it if it was that dirty. Was it disgustingly dirty?
Oh well, at least you got some income and maybe some more down the road after she has seen the great job you did!
