Saw this thread on GCA posted by prestigejanitorial www.globalcleaningassoc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1340Start GCA Post My proposal was accepted for a Medical Outpatient facility which is 48,000 sq ft. Any tips on staffing as well as breaking down responsibilities among the employees. I am looking at hiring 3-4 employees for this site-I estimate it should take 12-16hrs a night to clean it properly. Any advice on handling such a huge account. IJCSA post- How would you handle this?

48,000 square feet..... sounds more like a hospital than out-patient. Most medical facilities of this size, in or out-patient, have janitorial staff on payroll. Hmmmm.......

I CURRENTLY WORK IN A AMBULATORY SURGICAL CENTER WHICH IS ABOUT 37,000 SQ FT WHICH HAS 6 OPERATING ROOMS, 10 BATHROOMS,AND A SECOND FLOOR BUSINESS OFFICE. THE ENTIRE FACILITY IS SURGICAL STYLE RUBBER FLOORS. THE OPERATING ROOMS HAVE TO BE TERMINALLED EVERY NIGHT FROM CEILING TO FLOOR INCLUDING ALL MACHINES AND THEIR CASTERS ALONG WITH EMPTING ALL LINENS TRASH AND STOCKING SUPPLIES. I MANAGE TO DO ALL THIS IN A 8 HOUR SHIFT BUT ONLY BECAUSE WE CONTRACT OUT THE FLOOR WORK I JUST HAVE TO MOP THE ENTIRE FACILITY WITH DISINFECTANT EVERY NIGHT WITHOUT THOSE FLOOR GUYS I WOULD NEED AN EXTRA HAND.

I agree with the previous posts concerning making staff aware of blood borne pathogens etc. However , from a logistical point of view I would use a team cleaning concept to deal with this contract . Floor cleaning specialists, light duty specialists, heavy duty specialists and cross training in all duties to cover for illness etc. . Proper rotation through building so no second time work. My two cents worth
