Just tried something, Kinda shocked by the results. I usually use a wheel to measure square feet. I just measured my kitchen 12.7 x 12 with the wheel. 152.40
Then I used a laser pointer 12.1x 11.4 so the sq ft is 137.94
difference 14.46 sq. ft Everything to me is square feet! That 14.46 for example times .25 cents for floor care adds up to $3.61 Imagine measuring ten rooms that size for carpet cleaning or floor care or a very large area lets say 30,000 sq. ft and being off by 700 sq, ft or $175.00 I think im sticking with the wheel

Hey Kevin, I am not familiar with the laser. Is it pen shapped? Did you try this against a larger distance to see if it is a consistant error? What I mean is both measurements were off by 0.6 ft. Is the error a percentage or is it consistant? i.e. Can you measure a larger area and the measurement still only be off by 0.6 ft.
If that was the case the error would be minimal at the larger distances or could even be corected for.
Just curious, thanks, Gene

Update- Sorry for the delay, I purchased a faulty unit. Took it back to Sears, and got a new one it works fine. Remember whenever using a laser measuring tool it has to be placed on the back wall. I still like my measuring wheel better and would suggest the wheel over the pointer.
