Hi everyone, I am new to the cleaning business and I have just joined this group. I have read a lot of messages posted here and they seem very very helpful as a newbie. I do have 1 quesiotn. I would like to start my own business, but how do I get people to work for me? What do I need to have in mind when I employ people to work for me?
Regards Nikki

Welcome, and a good question. Not that difficult, to get people to work for you, but kinda difficult to really get them to work for you. You should run help wanted adds like any other business. (or employment fairs) You are looking for people that can do a variety of shifts, part-time and full time. You want to concentrate on the standards of your operation and present easy to follow and clear policy of your expectations. I think one of the largest areas of concearns (other than finding more work) is finding competent staff to perform the work. It seems like a never ending cycle sometimes, finding work, then staffing the work, then ending this contract, and starting a new one. One thing that I like are flexible people that adapt well to change, and like to have a variety of tasks while constantly on the go. Just the basics I`m sure more posts to follow.

You can also go to unemployment office. I have found some great ones there and some terrible ones. In the past they even had an office for me to interview everyone , one at a time. They would round up about 20 people interested in my job opening and have them there waiting for interviews. They even offered me a generic type application for each person to have ready at interview.

Thanks Kevin and Dan,
Your information is very valuable and I shall kep that in mind. I have still a lot of ground work to do before I can hire employees to work. But getting people might be the toughest part of the enitre busines. I have to apply for license but initialy I will keep it only for residential areas till I have a better understand of the business. I should say that this site has been very motivational to me and I am seriously considering to make a quick start my on this new and exciting business. I might again have some more questions as I get deeper into the proces :-)
Thanks Nikki

The big thing is that you have to make sure that every thing is on the up and up. Like you need to make sure that your pay roll is good, and that you get them insured just in case they hurt them self's not pretty.
get your licence and if you want bond your self it just looks good on you. About $100.00 a year
