We accept Visa PURCHASE CARDS not credit cards. Unfortunately for us , the cost of setting up credit card acceptance is significant. I am not prepared to leave like 10,000. on deposit with them for the priviledge of accepting visa and then paying them a 4.5 % discount for accepting the payment. The purchase cards are apparently in a different category with visa as only management of large corporations are allowed to use them, or something like that.
Bill My two cents worth.

I agree PayPal is the best way to go. They don't charge any monthly fees and you are only charged 2.9% plus .30 per transaction when someone pays you. You can transfer the funds to your checking account or do like I do and get a debit card from PayPal. You can use the debit card anywhere that takes Master Card. It is easy to set up. If anyone needs help setting it up on their website let me know. I have done it a 100 times. By the way, I have several customers that will only pay with a credit card, so you can probably get more business by accepting credit cards. Patti

As for excepting payments through PayPal, you don't have to have a website to accept credit card payments through PayPal. If you have Outlook or Outlook Express installed on your computer you can use the PayPal Payment Wizard and accept payments through your email. You just download the wizard and click on the payment request wizard and insert the payment button along with your business info and when you send a customer an email all they do is click on the PayPal button in your email and they are directed to PayPals website to make payment. It works the same as if you had it on a website only they pay through your email. It only works with Outlook or Outlook Express though. www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/sell/payment_wizard_intro-outsidePatti
