So, I just paid $99 to have a logo designed for me, which I think is a great first step in becoming more professional.
My question is: when I go to design my business card, which way should I go? Plain & simple or full colored and bright?
Also, letterheads & other forms of business documentation... should I pay to have those created too or would something made in MS Word be just as professionial?
I am pretty decent at creating my own graphics and forms, etc. (took several classes + years of self training) so I don't think coming up with my own stuff is a problem. I just want to be sure I put the best image out there .
Suggestions?

A good logo helps, but as far as letterhead you should be ok creating it yourself. Nice paper always helps all documents, some weighted linen paper is a plus.

Can we see your logo? I like the idea of having a logo & putting it on everything. My problem was just being happy with our logo & sticking with it
As far as business cards I like the idea of standing out in a handful of cleaning company business cards while not spending too much on them.
Letterhead: We did ours on microsoft works...

Letterhead: We did ours on microsoft works... Definatly. Once it gets finished. I researched a ton of logo making companies and have thelogocompany.net making mine at he moment. They offered the best for what I want and I was impressed with their portfolio. I will post the logo once it is finished.

Dang, I need a logo Have no idea what I am looking for. Any ideas? Linda Go through google and type "business logos" in the search bar and you'll get a quite a few websites or companies that have logo making. Shop around for thebest price though. I wouldn't spend anymore than $99-150 for a logo. I am paying $99 for mine. Also, make sure to find one that offers a 100% money back guarentee incase you're unhappy with their designs.

Thanks I will do that Is it Christy that does logo designs too? I was thinking someone in here did them? Linda Yes, Christy Caley does great work but I haven't seen her here in a long time. You can always contact her through her website www.cleanoutlook.comI have her personal email address in my email files somewhere. If I can find it I will email it to you. If you have any artistic talent, you can create a logo yourself. I drew ours myself, scanned it in to the PC, then cleaned it up with a photo/art editor. I looked at a lot of pictures of crows and other birds in flight, found a font that I liked, then adapted and incorporated all together. Took me 2 months to complete. Fortunately I did it when we first started out..... I don't have the time now days! I still do everything myself.... from business cards to uniform transfers heat stamped on baseball style shirts! Here is what I put on b-ball uniform shirts & hoodies, car magnets, etc: Natalie

I just got my business cards back from overnightprints.com
Great quality, and the colors are the same as my design looked on the computer.
I made the cards myself.
They actually looked better on the computer and look somewhat horrible in person.
I am sending them back for a refund.
I paid $48 for 200 cards.
I am not using the same name as on the cards now and am not happy with my design or color choices or the fact that I had UV coating on both sides.
If anyone is looking for a business card printing company, ovrnightprints.com is great for what you get.
Just make sure you're going to be using the name you put on the card and are 100% happy with the design.
Also, they are not "overnight" prints. They took almost two weeks to get here!

What would everyone say is the most effective type of logo?
Plain text? Text & a small design? Something really colorful or something that is 1-3 colors?
I am trying to figure out what to do because so far both logo companies I have used have majory ripped me off but I did get all money back. The lack of professionalism by both left me really annoyed and with a poor outlook on other logo companies.
So now, I am trying to decide if I should continue painfully trying to design my own and having no satisfaction, or seek out another logo company and pray for the best.
