Do you consider the time you spend at home creating forms and doing research or purchasing products work?
I notice with my lack of clients since I am just getting started, I am spending a lot of time reading stuff about the industry, going over topics here (and posting A LOT!), researchig the best products & tools, working on creating forms and looking for a company to create my logo for me. I sometimes feel like I am wasting a lot of time doing all of this when I could be doing other things but I know by doing this stuff it will make my business more successful. It's just hard to consider it work when you're not getting paid for it.
What does everyone else do for their business when not working on a house or commerical property?

Nicole, I have been doing the same thing lol. Alot of work isn't it I still dont feel like I am prepared. I am just waiting for the day to come up and I am going to want to say......REWIND. If only it were that simple lol. I am always scanning thru the newspaper looking for a better way to advertise. I hear alot about flyers. I just need to figure out how to make them on my computer. Having problems with that. I have been using Microsoft Works. I was told in chat to try Word instead. Going to try that. That seems to be a big hit with getting your name out there and getting more jobs. Linda

When I first decided to do my flyers, I dug through my mom's stack of old computer cds and found an old PrintMaster program that was like outdated in the late 90's. But, I'll tell ya this....it was so simple to work and made great flyers. I think any greeting card program will work because they have the 'poster' option. Lots of people with computers have them but don't realize it because they come free with stuff. Just a thought.
