I started out working for a neighbor. I worked with the son of the owner of company. We would be locked in a big dept store all night. The son slept all night while I cleaned. I told the father but he refused to believe me. He said I was a lier and upon that fact I had no choice but to quit. After getting some jobs working of farms I new I had to do something else. Farm Hand does not pay much. I went and talked to an owner of a tire store. I told him I would buff his floors for $25 a week. This would be enough to make a monthly payment on a buffer. He hired me and then I started to grow the business. I really enjoyed the work. I got great satisfaction when the customers would brag on how no one else ever done such a great job for them before. I also sub contracted myself to other cleaning services and learned as much as I could. About 24 years later I still smile when a customer compliments my work. Yes the money is a factor for every one but the knowing that you are the best at what you do and that people recognize you and appreciate your hard work is a great feeling. It has also helped me to appreciate the people around me and to let them know just how much they are appreciated whether it be cleaning people or someone working in a store as a clerk. So I guess I started cleaning for the money and then realized I loved my job as a self employed cleaning person;full of pride and high self esteem.
