I'm new to this, today is my first day. Would somebody please help me ! How do you get into a forum? I have several questions to ask about what to charge on several things. I just started a cleaning business 2 months ago and would greatly appreciate some advice. Thank you Renee (dustbunny2006)

Welcome Renee! Proceed to Step #2 or simply post your question in the starting a janitorial cleaning service section. The question will more than likely be answered and stay active for 30 days, until it is transfered to a secure IJCSA member area.

Frankly, I love craigslist for low cost advertising. When I first started out, I printed almost a thousand flyers, spent I don't know how much in gas and time distributing them and got nothing in response. I posted to craigslist and within a couple days had dozens of leads, and the best part is; it didn't cost me more than a few minutes on the computer. Don't know how craigslist is for commercial work, but for residential, if they service your area, that's the way to go.

Mike I had never advertised on Craigslist until a couple of weeks ago. I have been getting a lot of calls these past couple of weeks from it. I never realized so many people used Craigslist. Patti

The only luck I had on Craig List is 1 Sales Rep in one year. I bet it depends where you are. Just keep at it. Also, if you are just starting out...... Barter w/ a newspaper! Trade free janitorial Services for free advertising. You will be surprised how many people jump at bartering and the amount of new business you can generate from something like bartering w/ a newspaper. Good luck!

I think bartering would be a great topic in the topic section.

Bartering does work, we barter for our Chamber of Commerce membership, invoices passed back and forth including all applicable taxes etc., sales included in tax calculations owing , works well. Every year have an ad in the Chamber of Commerce directory costs us maybe an hour a month in labour.

One idea related to Craigslist is if the list in your area does not get a lot of traffic move to the next major metropolitan area. My local area does not get anything, but the major one (Philadelphia) gets people from NJ all of eastern PA, Delaware and even MD. I think the main reason is the more local ones are not that busy.
Whenever I sell anything on there I use Philadelphia even though philly is an hour and a half from me and I am very successful.
Just be sure to post what areas you will service to avoid unnecessary phone calls.
