Hello, I just opened my residential cleaning business and I want to hire someone but I am looking for a good dvd training program that I can purchase or download.
Any suggestions?

Training videos are good but in my experience the best way to train employees is to do the work by yourself for awhile and learn everything about professionally cleaning a home and then train your employees. I believe if you have never done something yourself it is hard to try to train someone else. I think it is always best to start out doing the work yourself and learn all the tricks of the trade, then you will be able to show other people how to clean. Also, if you have never professionally cleaned a home, when a potential client calls you and asks how do you clean this or what do you do about so and so, you won't have an answer. Patti

Patti~ I completely agree with you. But my concern is that I am still working full time so I am limited to the amount of jobs I have been able to do myself. I have read books on how to effectively clean and I myself is a very good cleaner per my current customers. But I think I am looking to speed up the cleaning process for myself and the incoming staff.

Patti is giving great advice. If you are working full time, you should clean on a Saturday for awhile to learn. Nothing takes the place of doing it yourself. Then, when you do get a video, it will be a valuable tool to use to train others. As a matter of fact, you should get the video to train yourself. Then go clean a few places. Get the feel of the job. You will posses a debt of knowledge in the industry. When I first started my maid service, I cleaned. Then when I hired my first person, I trained them at my place. House cleaning clients are easy to get when you know what you are doing.
