I have a couple nieces in college. They are not like some college kids, where everything is paid for or dished to them on a silver spoon. They both work 40+ hours while managing a full class load. In Michigan if you put somebody on-call status you have to pay them while they are on call. Not sure about your state. Your no overhead philosophy sounds great if you can find people willing to just be part time, when you call they come to work deal. I think though you will have to pay somebody very well to have them be the part time employee who might or might not work this week. I think you might want to start cleaning a bit yourself till you need an employee and can justify atleast part time work with a schedule. College kids who want to work will want something they can count on. Kudos to you on making your own green products!! Do you have any recipes to share?

Yeah, I see what you mean about the pay I save alot with the Green Cleaning products and i'm placing that into the pay roll area of the business , 9.00 to start I dont have a office or anything like that, I am using a phone service, one thing that upset me was getting a machine , I feel this is the kind of service that it go's to the one that picks up ,...but thats just me. On-call would mean starting out , once I get enough business then part-time would be the goal. I used to own a resturant and all I had was college kids and part-time worked for them then anyway. Thanks for your in put

Ok.. so your no stranger to college workers and part timers. Its good that you have a business background. Already a step above many service providers. Thats a good point about the phone and true. Alot of service providers also do not pick up the phone, so the customer calls the next person in the yellow page or online ad. You definitely want to have a plan available for always answering the phone. It always confuses me of business that spend a bundle on advertising then the number is a home number to an answering machine, sometimes with kids screaming in the background. Not professional at all.

thats true I have experienced that ,..even the family dog gets in on the action,...if theres any truth about what you said about phone services then that would be a problem with me its a 24/7 a week service and its going to cost. but I believe its worth it just to appear on the ball ..........lol
