I will be giving a Christmas bonus to my employees. What is the recommended amount for someone who has been with me for a year and someone who has been with me for a few months? Should it be the same or should it be so much for each month worked? My sister has been with me since day 1 but I dont want others to feel as though I am showing favortism even though pay is not suppose to be discussed between employees. Always is Can anyone help? Thanks, Linda

I have been thinking about this too Linda It's hard when you have someone who has been with you a long time and someone who has only been with your company for only a few months. I am going to give my bonuses on how long they have been with me. I think that is only fair. Patti

We give our employees 1% of their gross wages from Jan 1 to Dec.1. We also give them $10 to $50 a year depending on how good they are and how much I can afford. I had asked a couple of manangers at local factories how they did it, and they said they just give the 1% and thats it. If you feel thats not enough and can afford it than you could up it to 2 or 3%. Its an easy method and a fair way to all employees. We also give all employees a turkey for thanksgiving. They all seem to appreciate that so much. There is just something about getting a turkey free , that makes people happy. And the turkeys are so cheap.Usually around $12 each. Even if they have only been with me a week , I still buy them one.

Patti, I think Dan just gave us a solution This would work for me and it would make sense to the employee I think. I did ask one of the employees (friend) at one account how they did it and they said they got $100.00 for each year they were an employee up to I think $1000.00 and it doesn't go above that no matter how many years. Would be nice to afford that type of bonus in the long run Time will tell Dan, you are right about the turkey lol. I always loved getting a turkey, but that is one of my favorite foods too lol. Ok, this has been a big help, thanks! Linda
