I think the 2nd most popular email or PM I receive is "How Much Money Do I Need To Start?"Just wondering? What everybody started their business with? How much money do you think is enough now to start a cleaning and janitorial business? Post your comments below or send an email to admin@ijcsa.com

I was milking cows and had $0 to start up with. I had first job to pay for my buffer and let me buff their floors until it was paid for. I did keep my regular job for a while , until I got it built up.
I believe you can start out low or you can start out high. You can use your home cleaners and home vacuum to start cleaning residential. Or you can go out buy all new equipment , have lots of advertising, buy lots of uniforms, buy lots of office supplies, buy a web site, buy a new vehicle or a used one, buy a big add in phone book, and so on.
I think the smart thing to do is to start out low and make sure this is what you want to do and there is a market in your area for your services, before investing lots of money into it. Thats just my thoughts.

I am going to agree with Dan. If you're not sure how the market is in your area, don't go out and spend a lot of money to start up. My initial investment was probably around $200. That included the name registration with the state, running the ad, 1000 business cards and around 1000 flyers. As I got a few jobs, I added shirts to look professional and some signs for our vehicle (magnetic, about $85.00 for a pair.) It just doesn't pay to go all out unless you know what the market is. Just my 10 cents (inflation ya know!)
