I am gong to tell you a SECRET! Most window washers use DAWN AND WATER.........YUP....That's it. No need to use a special cleaner unless the property is by a body of water or if the property is around a lot of woods. If you need to get off a lime scale or if you need to clean sappy windows try an acid wash or use oven cleaner.... Do not use oven cleaner on the inside of the house. Make sure the area is well ventalated. Good luck!

Some might use a different dish soap. There is only one dish soap you will find on my kitchen sink or my work vans. It is Dawn. Click here to learn why?

We use Sudsy Ammonia. After the windows are cleaned you can't even tell there is a window there. Patti

Thank you for replying so quickly Kevin and Mike. I would have never thought that soap would leave windows streak free!! .......How much Dawn do you use in a spray bottle of water (size of a windex bottle)?

Thank You Patti! Do you use sudsy Ammonia full strength or add water?? Is all ammonia sudsy??..LOL. and what brand do you use? All I've ever seen is regular ammonia. Does it say sudsy ammonia on the bottle?...LOL...gee I know I sound ridiculous. Believe it or not I've never used Ammonia. Thanks again, Renee

I believe that no matter what you use, it is the technique that causes streaks. If you use a good squeegie with a good rubber and have the handle at the right angle you will not leave streaks. Weither its soap and water or a concentrated window cleaner. Unless there is a oily residue or something to that effect on the glass.

We buy regular ammonia and mix it with dish liquid in a bucket of water. It is the same thing. Patti

I use the dawn, alcohol mixture and love it. Just put a a few small drops of dawn in with your water and alcohol or your glass /windows will be sudsy.I found that out the hard way. For those of you using ammonia, be careful using it because it is a harmful solvent. It will damage tinted windows. So make sure you never use it on tinted windows.
