Question:
Dear Kevin,
My funds are tight on advertising right now. Will a website truly benefit my business? Please give me some facts.

Answer:
Good question! You have to think of your website as a extension of your existing marketing plan. A online brochure, tool, and a 24 hour advertisement for your business.
Now when I say existing marketing plan, you will need a paper marketing plan such as business cards, newsletters, brochures, paper advertising, paid paper services. In this paper advertising you direct the consumer to your website for more information on your products or services. You can also use your website for your current customers to keep them informed of specials, coupons, news ..etc that is affecting your company.
A website is not going to save your business if it is already struggling. It is simply an addition to your complete marketing program.
Here are a couple facts for you to take into consideration.
A new IJCSA website that I have built for a member receives 2-5 new visitors a day.
My website Purity which I advertise daily. Receives on average 10-12 new visitors a day. About 10 returning visitors a day, which I attribute to past customers looking for more information on services. We recieve on average 3-4 calls for estimates a day from new customers.
When I am heavy into a marketing program. I have peaked at 20-30 new users to Purity a day. With 10-15 new calls.
The site IJCSA which does very well in search rankings for all types of categories does on average 65-80 new visits a day. These are contributed to consumers looking for service, along with other janitorial and cleaning services looking for information.
You should think of a website for your business as a online storage / along with advertisement.
Time is a major factor with websites, every day more and more consumers are getting online and turning to the search engines for service and answers. I believe we have not seen the peak yet, of consumers turning to the internet. That peak in my opinion will be in the next 4 years. Getting online now will increase your chances of getting more direct business from your website as you will already made the search engine hurdles.
Hope This Helped,
Kevin
